The NCAOCA seeks to advance practice among counseling professionals working with clients with addiction and/or criminal justice involvement.

The division is modeled after the International Association of Addictions and Offenders Counselors and promotes research and practice to improve the lives of substance-affected or criminal justice-involved individuals and families.
